A sanctuary is expensive to run. The Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary houses over 600 birds of varying species. Housing needs continue to grow or require repair and renovation. Food is an important and expensive portion of our budget. All funds received go for the care of the birds, materials for housing or items produced to generate awareness and support. All staff are unpaid volunteers.
You can purchase everyday items from trusted merchants such as Fred Meyer stores, sponsor a fundraiser on Facebook, as well as making monetary donations through PayPal. Many employers also offer matching funds at various times during the year. And don't forget "Giving Tuesday"!
Once a year in late Summer (usually the first Saturday in August), Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary opens its gates to the public for a family centered picnic style barbeque with plenty of good food and lots of baskets filled with various items to bid on! Sometimes we have a live auction portion, but count on silent auction tables and a variety of unique craft, jewelry and other items. Stroll around the grounds and meet our beautiful and sometimes vocal residents!
