Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3), licensed in the state of Washington, and a Washington State registered charity.
We operate through volunteers and donations from you. Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing and providing shelter for birds in need. Most birds are grouped in flight pens enabling them to socialize with other birds and hence belong to their own flock.
Our mission is to provide sanctuary for every bird that is surrendered
to us.
Bob and Carol Dawson, along with their kids, have been caring for birds and other animals for over 30 years. In 1993 they raised cranes and ducks on acreage in Kirkland, but as they transitioned into caring for parrots, they realized they needed a larger area. They purchased a twenty-plus acre parcel in Carnation - grounds which have now been transformed in the manner of an arboretum.
Our team of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to provide the best possible care for the birds. They are passionate, knowledgeable, and committed to our mission.
The work done by the Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary is needed 365 days a year, rain or shine, and now provides shelter for over 600 birds.
Macaw Rescue and Sanctuary has been serving the community for over 30 years. We started as a small volunteer-run organization and have since grown to become one of the most respected animal shelters in the area. Our dedication to the well-being of animals is what drives us every day.
